Drew Brees is Going to Disney World!

Drew Brees led the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts in South Florida, so what do you think he’s going to do next? He's Going to Disney World, of course!  After making several memorable plays against the Colts in the 31-17 Super Bowl XLIV win, Drew looked into the TV cameras and proclaimed the famous phrase.  Drew is appearing in a nationwide commercial this week and heading to Walt Disney World Resort Monday at where he’ll celebrate his team’s magical Super Bowl win with a ticker tape parade down at Main Street USA at 11:55 a.m.

Epcot Flower & Garden Festival Begins March 3

The 17th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival kicks off March 3 – earlier than ever – and continues for 75 days through May 16, 2010, with bold strokes of seasonal color and brand-new topiary whimsy. Last year’s festival began March 18; now Walt Disney World guests get a head start on the gardening season as they explore exhibits and activities geared toward discovery and outdoor fun.

2010 Star Wars Weekend Dates Released

Once again, the power of the Force and the magic of Disney combine for the family-friendly fan-fest, scheduled for four consecutive weekends, beginning May 21 and running through June 13, 2010, at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The event includes special parades, trivia games, meet-and-greet sessions with Star Wars legends and characters and special themed activities. The weekend festivities take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and are included with regular theme park admission.

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend kicks off today through January 10, 2010. Runners will go through the most magical setting in the world. Defending champion is Adriano Bastos, who will try for his sixth straight Disney victory, seventh overall.  Marathon Weekend is filled with competition and fun starting with Disney’s Health & Fitness Expo and ending when runners cross the finish line to earn the exclusive Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Goofy medals. The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is one of the most popular races in Disney’s Endurance Series, which includes the Champion 5K at ESPN the Weekend (Feb. 27, 2010), Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend (March 5-7, 2010), Expedition Everest Challenge (June 12, 2010) and the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 1-2, 2010).

Hollywood Studios to Undergo Refurbishment

It has been announced that the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" Movie Set Adventure, Studio Catering Co. restaurant, and the Studio Backlot Tour will be closed for refurbishment February 15 through March 27, 2010. Speculation is running rampant that these refurbishments are tied to expanding the adjacent Pixar Place into this area. Roy E. Disney Passes Away

Roy E. Disney, the nephew of Walt Disney who became a powerful behind-the-scenes influence on the family business, has died. He was 79. Clifford A. Miller, a spokesman for Roy Disney's company Shamrock Holdings, told the Los Angeles Times that Disney died Wednesday after a bout with cancer. His father, Roy O. Disney, and uncle, Walt, founded The Walt Disney Co. in the 1920s. Walt was the company's creative genius but Roy Disney's father played a vital role as head of its financial side. The younger Disney, born in 1930, worked for the company as a writer and producer. But his most important influence was as a Disney shareholder who led two investor revolts. In 1984 he led a successful campaign to oust Walt Disney's son-in-law from the company. Nearly 20 years later, he launched another successful shareholder revolt against Michael Eisner.
