Mickey Mouse Takes to the Skies

As part of "the Happiest Celebration on Earth" a 100 foot tall Mickey Mouse hot air balloon is taking flight March 30 through May 26, 2006. The balloon has been dubbed "The Happiest Balloon on Earth" and will travel throughout the western United States and Canada. Mickey will be the first hot air balloon to ever rise over the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Walt Disney World Inline Marathon Weekend

As part of the 4th annual Walt Disney World Inline Marathon, skaters from all over the country will have the opportunity to experience Disney World on wheels. The Full Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 6:00am. The course features a journey through Disney-MGM Studios and Epcot. There is an All Star Kids Classic, for children ages 3-12, taking place on Saturday, April 1, 2006. Registration is currently open. Race day registration is not available.

Walt Disney World Receives Golfing Honors

In Golf Magazine’s March issue readers and experts have once again rated Walt Disney World Resort as a Gold Medal winner. The survey puts the Vacation Kingdom among the top 25 golf locations in the country. Walt Disney World Resort is the only Florida location to be recognized with a Gold Medal in the survey. It is also the eighth time that Golf Magazine has honored the Resort since 1992. During that period, Disney has been awarded six Gold Medals and two Silver Medals. Disney World has five 18 hole, par 72 golf courses located conveniently throughout the resort.

Disney Cruise Line Announces Mediterranean Cruises with Calls in Spain, Italy and France

For the first time ever, the Disney Cruise Line is adding Mediterranean cruises, to their current itineraries, with calls in Spain, Italy and France. For the Summer of 2007 the Disney Magic is being repositioned to the Port of Barcelona, Spain. 10-night and 11-night vacation cruises to Europe are available. The four 11-night itineraries depart on Saturdays: May 26, June 16, July 7 & July 28. The four 10-night itineraries depart on Wednesdays: June 6, June 27, July 18 & Aug. 8.

Magical Express to Continue Through 2011

Orlando International Airport & Walt Disney World have reached a five year deal extending the shuttle and baggage service, Magical Express, through 2011. The Magical Express program was introduced last May as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth. Magical Express will be relocated to the B Side of the airport. Uniformed greeters can be found in the terminal's second level to help passengers find their way to the shuttles.

"Around Our World" Cel Event at Epcot

On March 18, the Walt Disney World Ink & Paint team will be releasing a limited edition Cel, "Around Our World," exclusively at the Art of Disney in Epcot. The Cel features Mickey Mouse dressed as a tourist. Images on the wall behind him pay tribute to each of the Disney Theme Parks around the globe. 2006 Epcot Teddy Bear and Doll Weekend

The 2006 Teddy Bear & Doll Weekend will be taking place, during the 13th Annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, May 19-21. 2006 Disney's Night of Joy Details Announced

Marking the 24th anniversary of Disney's Night of Joy, on September 8 & 9, a total of 16+ acts will present concerts on stages throughout the Magic Kingdom.
