We are hoping to spend 10 days at the World. Most of our time will be spent between MK EPCOT and Studios, with much less time at AK. My question for those who have stayed there, is it too far away? I seem to recall the bus ride being really long, but maybe I was spoiled by Fort Wilderness being so close to the MK. Any feedback?
Magic kingdom is going to be the furthest away followed by epcot then hollywood studios. im not sure what the exact times are ... but i remember someone saying its 20 + mins to MK

While its the farthest away, and would obviously take you longer to get to MK than say WL, I would not say that its far. we have stayed there several times in the past, with a rental car, and have opted to take the bus to MK because it was actually faster (once you factor in parking, and getting from the TTC to MK), 15-20 mins tops (on the bus) when we've gone, and like I said, thats not based on 1 trip either. Epcot and DHS, 10-15 mins, nothing to get angry about
I would never tell anyone to avoid it because it's "too far", and the resort itself is amazing. I dont mind if others think its "too far away", that just means a room will be available for me!

Love AKLV, never a problem with the bus transportation, however it is noticeably further away from everything else, the exception being AK.
There's also almost always a second stop when staying at Kidani because they go to Jambo house second.
I wouldn't let that deter someone from staying there, and I really wouldn't opt for using my own car instead of Disney transport. Just something you accept for staying at one of the best themed resorts on property.
AKL is my favorite by far, and I've never noticed the busses taking too long. It's far enough away to really feel like you are somewhere special, but we've really never noticed long bus rides. I guess the quality and theming of the resort is so unique and awesome, that the bus ride is not that important. It's not that much further.

I really don't find it all that long of a bus ride to any of the parks. Other resorts share busses which make for a longer times on the bus, AK does not share busses. It's a great resort!!

Unfortunately, my wife gets car/bus sick.
She loved the resort but, due to the above mentione sickness, we will no longer stay there.
This time, it's the Beach Club which makes travel a lot easier.
I really love Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is one of my favorites. It is a little further from everything but it doesn't take that much longer to get anywhere from there.
I think the real thing with AKL is that it feels more remote since there is nothing else right there besides AKL and AK.
The Epcot resorts have the the other resorts within walking distance, Epcot , DHS and the Boardwalk. The Magic Kingdom had the monorail resorts within viewing distance and the boats for Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. And most of the moderates are near another resort. So they just feel more in the middle of everything. If you want that feel, you probably won't be happy there but if you want something that feels like very serene, it's perfect.

We enjoyed the AK. The overall bus ride is fine. For any resort, a lot of the time involved with bus transport is the loading and unloading.
The slight increase in distance once on the road was fine. I thought the bus frequency was good when we stayed there and that makes nice difference.:D

Honestly, the ride from AKL to MK seems endless, and if the bus is crowded, even more so. That said, bus frequency was very good.

If I ruled the world, the monorail going to this resort would be my top priority, how sweet would that be?

It is a bit further away, but the resort is unique. We often do a split stay at AKL and another resort so we get the experience of staying at AKL. While you are at AKL, try Boma for dinner, breakfast or both.
