OK, not AT Fort Wilderness, but closer than you might think.
We mix and manage our cabins at FW vacation with offsite dining and the choices, cost savings and convenience makes it easy for us.
If you think this is too much of an excursion give Google Maps a look; Giordano’s and Joe’s Crab Shack are near each other and 5 miles from FW. AK is 8 miles from FW.
Here’s the (yes, it’s really Giordano’s) trick: Chicago deep dish pizza takes almost an hour after your order it. I have the number in my cell phone (and a menu from their website, of course). As we leave a park I call the restaurant and order pizza. We make our way back to our cabin using WDW transportation. My son and I jump in the car and my wife sets the table on the deck and makes a pitcher of Sangria. DIL switches kids to PJs.
By the time we’re back with the pizza, all we need to do is eat. The crowds of Disney Parks are far away. Dishes go in the dishwasher and leftovers go in the fridge.
It seems like any good pizza takes at least an hour to be delivered down there. We have ordered, paid with ccard, and had the pizza delivered to the front desk
Actually,
I was talking about us going and picking up the pizza.
I haven't thought about get's Joe's Crab Shack to go. If we ate there I would probably pack up my eat at the restaurant.
Sorry, folks. But there is no good pizza in Florida. Italian wannabe at best. As a NYC Italian, I say there just ain't any decent Italian food south of Jersey.

Can't you get that kind of pizza that someone throws in the air while they sing about their Mama then when you get a slice you can fold it and eat at Via Napoli in EPCOT?
Giordano's is (real) Chicago pizza. The kind where it takes a knife and a fork and 3 RolAids to eat a slice.

Ah. I see pizza was mentioned on the internet.

Sorry....gotta disagree....
We find the pizza at Via Napoli to be exceptional.... thin, crisp on the outer crust, yet soft and chewy enough to fold perfectly. And the flavor.... :cloud9:.
We have an Italian pizzaria in our home town that is owned and run by a born and raised NYC Italian, and it doesn't come close to Via. It's excellent, but not as good.
