Howdy All!

I just read that Disney plans to remove the existing FW cabins and replace them with new DVC cabins. Interesting.

I'm kinda bummed, we've had a couple GREAT cabin stays, and were planning more for the future, but wonder what the price point will be once they are DVC.

I also wonder how this will impact the overall vibe of the campground?

Have they definitely said they are removing all existing cabins and they all will be DVC. My first thought was maybe this was a replacement for the DVC resort they were going to build over there that got cancelled. interesting they would be going this route.

I'd love that, leaving at least some of the cabins as is. I've heard it will be the same footprint as the existing cabins, but until Disney does it, who knows for sure?

Kinda sad they will leave the other site just bare, after clearing it.

I'm conflicted here. It'd be nice to see some modernization of the cabins, and maybe of the bathhouses - but I'd more like to see them expand Ft. Wilderness and add more campsites. We don't visit all that often, but it's always been darn near full when we did. They've got room to expand, it looks like from the map.

And then there's the question - by changing to DVC, will that block out folks who aren't DVC members?

Guess we'll see.

It doesn't block you out from reserving - it does however give preference to members booking. Not sure why they are doing this and not building the DVC resort the originally planned over there.

That is sort of strange. I don't get what they are doing either. Most likely, they figured out a way to make a little more money or are trying to draw people that like Fort Wilderness into buying DVC so they have them locked in every year. They should build the DVC section and leave the cabins and campground alone.

We camped at Fort Wilderness a few weeks ago, and saw several of the new cabins already in place or getting final assembly done. The traditionalist in me was a bit disturbed by the fact that their appearance totally lacked anything that screamed "Wilderness" like the log cabin look of the cabins they are replacing. I guess in time I'll get used to them, but right now they just failed to impress me.
