The poolview rooms in both Oak and Parterre are very close to the bridge back to the main area. Generally, the Oak Manor rooms are a bit closer than most of the Parterre rooms, but overall it is just a short walk across the bridge.

There is also the East Depot bus stop, which may be closer for rooms in Oak Manor, instead of heading back to the main stop.

We stayed in a standard view room in Parterre, on the ground floor - it's about a five minute walk to the lobby, food court, main bus stop, etc...I'd say generally speaking (as far as I know the royal rooms are only in those two buildings) they'd all be fairly close, and requesting a ground floor room would definitely help. Even if you wound up on the back (parking lot) side of the buildings, there are pass-throughs where you can cut through. Spend two minutes when you check in figuring out the best route to get back to the bridge - we've stayed at POR a couple times, and these were definitely the best locations we've ever had!

Also, as a side note, and knowing that the bus routing/scheduling always changes, the East bus stop on that side was not a good idea while we were there. Often, buses would come to the main stop at the front desk, load up, and leave the resort. We tried the East twice during our last stay, and had that unfortunate experience of waiting 30-45 minutes for the bus we needed, then having it arrive full, etc.

Mom doesn't want to spend the extra $ on a royal room so we are going with a preferred room. What area is the closest to the main bus stops, food court and gift shop? What area should we request? We'll need a building with an elevator or a 1st floor room to accommodate mom's scooter.
