If I were to book a room through Expedia at the Swan or Dolphin, how would Genie know I was staying there? In other words would I still be able to book lightning lanes starting at 7am?

I would assume you would have a reservation number to enter into the MDE app which would allow you to book Genie+ reservations based on your tickets and park reservations.

We have stayed at the Swan/Dolphin multiple times. There are two reservation numbers. One that you get from the hotel, and one that you receive later (maybe from Disney?) that is linked to your Disney experience. We were able to link and make reservations in the morning on our trip last February.
