Traveling With 5 people

A Villa or a cabin at Fort Wilderness is the only option that I can think of short of getting 2 separate rooms. I don't know who the 5 people are or how close you all are but I wouldn't have wanted to stay in the same room with my parents when I was at dating age...

Since room prices are based on double occupancy I would also get two rooms and not try to squeeze five adults into one room. I know you figure you won't spend much time in the room, it is still important to be comfortable. If you do it this way, when making the reservation, ask for adjoining rooms. We've done this with four adults and it was great.

If you aren't comfortable with your DD being in a room by herself with her bf, I would go with the cabins. The bedroom can hold 4 (one regular bed and one bunk bed) and 2 can sleep in the living room with a pull out bed. You can put the kids in the bedroom together and have some quiet time for yourself in the living room. You will also have a kitchen to make food in if you want to cut down on some of the cost. I enjoyed the cabins quite a bit. The biggest things that I consider to be drawbacks are 1. You only have one bathroom as opposed to 2 bathrooms if you get two rooms 2. You have to use internal transportaion in Fort Wilderness to get to the regular transportation to the parks.

Have you thought about staying in a DVC two bedroom. I know there is a way to rent points which I understand is less money than going thru Disney. It gives you a kitchen, washer/dryer right in the room. I have 3 adult boys and now with girlfriends it makes it much easier. We save a ton of money on breakfast and lunch. The five of us used to stay at the Poly in a regular room but way too small for 5 adults, plus with the extra fee for each adult after the first 2 no longer made financial sense. Have fun planning!

Five adults and 1 bathroom can be tricky. I agree you should either get 2 rooms or a suite. I know you say you don't want the value resorts, but All Star Music suites may give you just what you need. It's something to seriously consider if budget is an issue.

Will you have a car? If so, consider staying offsite. My group of 6 is staying in a 3 bed, 3 bath townhouse 2 miles from Disney for less than the cost of a single room at any of the value resorts. We got it through VRBO.
It even has it's own pool and the kids room has pictures of the Simba, Pumba, and Timon.

It looks like you go roughly every other year so you are probably in the same boat as my family. I think you'll since that you'll need at least a deluxe every time you go with five and as adults you could probably use some more space (not to mention maybe an extra bathroom). If you are thinking that you might want to keep up your trend (plus add in significant others, spouses and maybe grand kids down the line), then you might want to consider DVC. I saw where renting was suggested and it is definitely a more affordable way to go vs. the rack rate of a regular stay. However if you do the math, maybe even with some financing, then I think you'll find that DVC is a worthwhile investment for the larger family. We bought some new and some used, but ours has paid for its self in less than four years and we've still got another 20 plus to go.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I decided to get two rooms at Pop. Hopefully all will work out but thinking of looking into DVC now that the kids are getting older and grandkids will be in the picture in a few years.
