I have a ADR next week and I wanted to update my party from 2 to 3. When I called to request this change, they said it was not possible. If I show up at my reservation with my extra person, are they really going to turn them away? Seems rather anti-Disney.
Several years ago I tried to add a +1 at the last minute and when I called I was actually told by the rep on the phone to just show up with the extra person, no problem.
My +1 ended up backing out, so I never tested the theory, but I feel confident that you will be sat, even if it results in an additional delay while they make it work.
There is always that 0.0001% chance that the restaurant is extremely popular, is waaayyyy overbooked, and tempers are high at the front desk and so they end up refusing to allow the +1, but I estimate that chance to be about as slim as someone getting to stay the night in Cinderella's Castle (meaning it has happened, and even happened to a member here on Intercot, but still.... probably not going to happen).
Just curious, what restaurant is the reservation at?

Thanks for the response. Its at 50s Prime Time Café. One of my favorite dining experiences at Disney.
Many times we've needed to add on last minute. So far, we've always been accommodated with the extra guest, never turned away.

I think it will depend on how busy the restaurant, and what kind of tables are available.
For example if they have 2 person tables (I don't remember any, but it has been a few years since we ate there), it would be more difficult to add a third person, then if they only have 4+ person tables where going from 2 to 3 is no problem at all.
I would suggest trying, worst the can do is say they can not take the 3rd person.

There is a more important issue than table size, it's restaurant maximum occupancy. That is set by fire code. If the extra person puts them over maximum occupancy then the extra person will be turned away. Nothing anti-Disney about it. They cannot legally go above that number and the liabilities are so high that no restaurant will do that. There are numerous reports of extra people bring turned away at Disney restaurants so given the week you are going I'd be prepared with an alternate plan.
