We haven't yet decided if we're attending MNSSHP, but the day we're looking at only has a 6:35pm ADR right now - which would put us out after the party starts. How exactly does that work if you don't have party tickets?

Well, the party doesn't officially begin until 7:00 pm so your reservation would be before the start of the party. After you finish your meal, you'd be expected to leave the park.

Oh yeah I know we'd have to leave, but I was wondering more how that worked? Like, do they have a separate exit or have people walk you out? Do they frown upon having people without tickets make ADRs that might overlap? That sort of thing. The only thing we might do is look in the Emporium on the way out, but we weren't going to try to get on rides or anything.

Generally, they position cast members at various intersections throughout the park. If you attempt to head further into the park (away from the exit), you'll be asked to show your party band. If you don't have one, they will direct you towards the exit of the park. there is no separate exit and I've never seen them escort someone out. The only time I saw a cast member accompany a guest was when a few folks tried to get their pictures taken at one of the party picture areas. They did not have party tickets and they were escorted away from the area. I don't know if they were escorted all the way to the exit.

You can make a dinner reservation for any open slot available to you during normal park hours. I would guess they would direct towards to the exit as you left the restaurant. I don't know how they would handle shopping if it were after the start of the party. I know there is often merchandise put out that is only available during the party so they might ask for your party band before allowing you to enter the shop.

I say go for the ADR. If you choose to attend the party you will already be there and if not then as others have said you will be expected to leave once you finish eating.

From experience:

Once the party starts - 7pm - the doors to the shops will be closed, and CMs will be standing at each entrance. You will not be allowed in the stores without a party ticket. If you attempt to enter, you will be ever so politely reminded that the party has begun and your day in the MK was come to a magical end.

Ok, good to know! We've attended the parties in the past, and we've had times when we didn't attend, but didn't have ADRs either, so we left before the party actually started. This exact situation I wasn't sure about. I also didn't remember them not letting people into the stores, but I guess I wasn't paying much attention at the time. Thanks!
