i'd like our family (6 adults) to experience 50s prime time cafe, but would be just
as happy with just dessert. Can you just walk up and get a table for dessert?

They are nearly always pretty well booked. You can be served desserts in the 50's Tune in Lounge next door with seats at the bar on a first-come, first-serve basis. but it would not be the same experience as in the restaurant itself.

Why not book a meal? My husband and I have eaten here in the past.

I've had success with walk-ups when arriving right at, or slightly before, official opening time. Good luck!
