I have been trying for three weeks to get a dinner reservation at T-Rex on Sunday, Sept. 20, and have had no luck. Is this because of free dining? I'm not a big fan of the restaurant, but we'll be with one of our great nephews and he loves dinosaurs. Are there any T-Rex fans out there?
Call the restaurant directly...you'll have no problem

If all else fails (and I agree - call the restaurant, they usually have space, it is that all of the space isn't released into the Disney system), you can join the Landry's Club, and get seated ahead of other walk-ups.
I believe it costs $25, but you get a $25 credit when you sign up.

Thanks very much for the info. I didn't know it's not a Disney-run restaurant. Going to Landry's right now.
We have had dinner there several times with no wait. We've never had a reservation there.

STEELERS, SIX TIME SUPERBOWL CHAMPS
A couple of times we had no reservations and walked right in, however, that was around 4:00 pm and that is not the normal dinner time.
Good luck!
