Will be going to DL for the first time in a decade in late June for 4 days. When we go to WDW we generally avoid the parks with AM EMH as they get busy very quickly and it is a bit of a challenge to be at the park by 8am with DS7 and DS 9.
I was wondering if using the AM EMH might make more sense at DL. We will be coming from New York so it should be much easier to get up and get to the park by 8am. We will be staying at the Grand Californian. I also figure since there are 2 parks and not 4 like WDW the EMH might not have as big an overall effect on the crowds. Thoughts?
Thanks a lot

When we stayed at VGC two years ago EMH was 7AM, never made one. We didn't have much of a problem on any of the rides except Radiator Springs. Not sure when in June you are going but we were there for DL AP blackout dates so the crowds were not terrible at all.

I'd say go take advantage of early admission for a few things that will only get more crowded as the day goes on, on slow days and busy days. On a Disneyland early entry day Peter Pan is a good attraction to visit and at Disney California Adventure, Radiator Springs Racers. You don't need to do this each day especially during this time of the year since the parks will be open late, giving you lots of hours to visit many attractions and enjoy a good deal of the entertainment. Note that, as Lynn mentioned, EMH will probably begin at 7am during late June.

I would use it if you are already up and ready to go at that time. However, I advise highly AGAINST using the hotel DCA entrance for DCA EMH days as it is a slow moving line and once you get in you are pretty far from Carsland. Use the main park entrance.

I absolutely agree with this. The DCA gate at the hotel is fine in the afternoon, but avoid it in the morning. If you're up and ready do the early hour, then as the parks get more crowded you can easily hop over to the other park. Make sure you get a park hopper when you visit Disneyland. It's very easy to jump back and forth between the parks.

On my trip in December, it was easy for me to make the EMH. The EMH time is 7am, which is still 10am to my rattled East Coast brain! ;)
The crowd levels were actually good until around 10am. I got a lot done on those mornings.
If the park DOES start to feel a bit cramped, you can always walk across the promenade to the second park! (Please do yourself the favor of getting Hoppers!!)
Now, what was difficult for me was staying until the park(s) closed.
