Disneyland has announced that "The Redhead" (or evidently Redd) will debut an in-park Character this Summer:

Arriving soon at Disneyland park is a fierce and independent pirate known as Redd. A bit mysterious by nature, Redd travels to various ports throughout the Caribbean—selling rum and collecting coin, and will soon be taking a journey to visit with guests in New Orleans Square.
Keep an eye out for Redd this summer strolling around New Orleans Square!
It is not yet clear if the Character will be part of a static Meet & Greet or more of a roaming Streetmosphere enhancement.

I kinda like this idea. I may still prefer to have my pic with Jack Sparrow but I'm not opposed to having Redd walking around. I like it!
