I just wonder where DVC goes from here with with partnerings at every deluxe at WDW plus two stand alones, one at DL, Aulani and the other two east coast sites. Maybe something Star Wars themed adjacent to Hollywood Studios?
I don't think they're looking at a stand alone right now. I think their next step will be another conversion at either YC/BC or BW similar to what they've done at Poly and WL.
Just glad this whole thing worked out for all involved but I don't think this is the last resale change we will see from them.

I expect about a year from now (when the dust from this brough-ha-ha settles down) they will drop all of the added bennies from ALL non-direct purchases.
I think someone screwed up in saying that the pending stuff was OK... got their butt chewed...... and then trying to fix their mistake, the backtracking was a clear "faux pas" with the customers ........ but the intent is there to do so.

Disneyland - 1972
We bought resale points at HHI in 2008 and paid around $66 per point for 150 points. At that time SSR and AKL were going for $104 to $107ish. A couple of years later we bought a loaded 200-point contract again at HHI. We're from SC so we thought at least we'd visit the beach a couple of times a year if we suddenly couldn't go to Disney anymore. I've been really happy with our decision to buy, because we are a family of 6 with a fondness for deluxe resorts who couldn't continue to stay in them without getting 2 rooms, and that was not in the budget.
Recently I've become frustrated because I have tried for a few months now to get a 2BR at VGC so we can go to Disneyland before my oldest goes off to college in the fall. I went through all the training to become a Disney travel agent in February, and once I had access to the TA system, I looked up availability at VGC for *CASH* customers. I was surprised and angered to find out that, while I can't get a 2BR Villa with points, Disney sure would let me pay nearly $10K for a one for 5 nights! So 2BRs are available, but not to DVC members wanting to stay on points.
At a recent travel agent event I was talking with another TA about her point renting experience. She got 2 SSR studios in October for 9 nights and paid $1100. That's less than what I pay in dues yearly for my 350 points. When we go our average stay is 5 nights once a year, with maybe (if we're lucky) another quick 3-night trip sometime during the year. (We don't ever stay at HHI anymore because we bought our own vacation property there with the thought of retiring there in about 10 years or so.) I've had potential clients call me and say, "I'm looking at renting points because it's so much cheaper than just getting a hotel room!" So that means I can only book tickets for them, because dining has to be done through DVC. That takes commission away from me.
And the last thing that has me shaking my head.... the agent I talked to that was able to get 2 studios for the 1st week of October... My sister wanted to go see the new Star Wars stuff this fall. I spent about an hour playing with dates from the end of Sept through the beginning of Nov and could only find 3 nights available Sept 30 through Oct 3. I grabbed it. Then I remembered the agent who's renting points for a studio that first week of October and it just doesn't sit well with me that a non-member can get a room there and I cannot, even though I shelled out thousands to join and continue to pay thousands every year to maintain my membership. If I had known when we joined that renting was an option, I would've just done that.

When my sister was buying resale direct from Disney a year ago the sales rep discussed this with us. He pointed out the dropping of the other non-DVC properties that had just happened as being step one. Step 2 according to him was the dropping of the DVC Perks which we've just seen. As for the next 4 steps he said would be happening......it ain't pretty. As it is only a rumor I don't feel it is fair to say what those 4 steps are. We all have all heard many rumors in the past that we have seen not followed through on. I for one am keeping my fingers crossed that these just vanish.
BTW - Disney direct DVC resale is a very active purchase function. There are up to one year and better wait lists for membership in most all DVC resorts currently.
