Green Bar Icons?

I noticed them, too, but I have no idea what they mean. So far it appears no one has stepped up to answer the question. Anyone with any ideas?

I posted about these back in September of last year, and John replied:

"The green dots just reflect others taking time to add to your reputation by hitting the scales thing. Honestly, it's no big deal. I turned it on a little while ago and honestly, don't think it adds much to the site because we don't have troublemakers here. For sites that deal with that, you can negatively rep people who repeatedly post annoying/negative comments etc."

I was curious because I have been a member of InterCOT for many years, and was listed as an "unknown quantity".:confused: Since then, I've been promoted to "will become famous soon enough". (One can only hope.) Like John said, it's really no big deal, and since my curiosity was satisfied I've pretty much ignored them.

I thanked and liked all your posts to share some love and help grow your green bars. Only very rarely do I use the dislike button when it seems like someone isn't being fair to the Intercot community, but generally I tend to shy away from it because everyone is entitled to their own opinions. On the flip side I try to click the like and/or thank buttons when someone really goes above and beyond to share knowledge and insight with those looking for help. Peace and love! Peace and love!

Here's a question that only John may know: how many like/thanks tags do you need to get a second green bar? It seems as though almost everyone has at least one, but only a very few have multiple.

I've occasionally clicked "dislike" but only because I didn't like the content of what was said, not the person relaying the message. I certainly didn't mean to bring down their status. I think the "dislike" is a little misleading that way.

I'm with you! I've occasionally disliked too, but it's nothing personal. What kind of world would this be if we were all a bunch of yes men without opinions?

I have been a member for a long time but just now coming back after a bit of a hiatus. I noticed my "grey" bar this morning and it saying I was an "unknown." It was funny but I wondered also. Thanks for this post and the clarification.
