Whoa calm down there Betsy... sorry i dont study the threads and saw it was already posted.
Pimpin aint dead.... its just renamed.... Frozen.
Wasn't about that it was already posted. That doesn't matter.
It is the fact that most of the incidents stem from people who are "older" and had mishaps outside of the WDW attractions and most likely did it to themselves.
The incident in POTC was because of a stupid person putting his hand where it didn't belong.

May I ask where this information comes from?
Well, I can't 100% say because I was asked not to. But I know somebody who works in Orlando, not at Disney, who is able to find out information about incidents like this.
Only the basic information about the accident was released.
The fact he was was withheld from the public. Most likely to protect the stupid.

So you/others know this was not accidental and was 100% intentional, such that we can definitely attribute it to their lack of intelligence?
He didn't keep his hands inside the vehicle. The warnings are clear. So, yeah, I'll repeat.
And accidental/intentional? It was stupidity. I doubt it was intentional but when you put your hands where they don't belong and the rules are clear about that, you suffer the consequences.
His name was withheld, but the man is quoted in an interview as saying the incident was his own fault due to foolishness and he wouldn't hold Disney to blame. Even the man who lost fingers believes it was his own fault. I doubt it was intentional but it does seem like a case of rider error. Disney could be just taking precautionary measures in case until they conclude their own investigation into the matter.

Interesting. I inquired further because most of the time, when I read similar comments, it can best be described as fundamental attribution error. Thanks for adding some additional context.
Just a note, Disneyland has blocked off the last row way before this occurred (blocked off last August). It also isn't consistent as I just rode in the last row in July of this year.

Two local radio djs here in Tampa were poking fun at the story by having people who lost a limb call in and tell their story for free disney tickets. But they kept referring to a boy losing fingers rather than a UK tourist.
I researched it and it turns out, three months ago a 12 yr old boy cut four fingers in a similar fashion to how the UK guy did his. Some stories say the boy lost four fingers. Others said cut four. Whichever it was I guess Disney sees it as a problem now.
Little tibit of info i found...

Man, 68, got a blood clot in his leg after falling out of the Astro Orbiter.
I think a lot of people get inured walking around the parks but not everyone reports it. You should have seen the huge tumble I took 2 days ago at the MK....tripped on a curb, straight down onto both knees, scraping all the skin off one side and now have a sore ankle. It was my fault. Not looking where I was going. I didn't tell any CM...just cleaned up the blood, bandaged my knee myself and hobbled through my day,

I can attest that the last rows of the Disneyland POTC boats were being loaded on Tuesday of this week. Lines were a couple of minutes long. :mickey:

So glad the injuries were not worse! I feel of my own neglect as well, an AK a couple of years ago. My youngest [3 at the time], stepped right in front of me as I was taking a step and I tripped.
I think my ego was bruised in front of the mass crowed more than anything. lol:blush:

These two comments demonstrate that Disney is not consistent with the application of the policy at Disneyland. I'll wait and see what happens at WDW with the policy.

Add me to the list of klutzy people  ! I tripped walking up the steps to Country Bears Jamboree about 7-8 years ago. A CM saw me and walked me over to first aid. I got cleaned up there and rested for a bit sipping a Powerade they gave me.
