Ooooo! They could do it all in clear acrylic! And then put the "Northern Lights" shining up through it! And I could throw up and never ride the ride again! Yea!

There are mermaids? I have never noticed them except the skeleton. ???? They must have been very hit and miss or hardly noticeable.

I was worried about it not being open when we go back next but we won't be there until October so hopefully it will be up and running. We are taking family that haven't seen it.

At the same time, they added the mermaid skeleton on the left side right before you enter the ship scene? I think? LOL I get my Pirates mixed up between WDW and DL.

So is this before or after the battle scene? OR right before the mist after the mist?

Thanks for the info - I had never seen them - and now, won't until next year! :mickey:

Yes!!! After the mist, before the battle scene.

IMO the mermaids were a joke. They worked for about 10 minutes and that was it. Even when they did work you barely noticed them and they did nothing to enhance the ride at all. Total waste of money.

Seems like it was a "half-fast" effort. LOL

I sure hope this is not the norm for Disney fixes. Gosh knows the Yeti's band-aide has fallen off a long time ago.

For over $100 a day - now-a-days for MK admission I'd sure like to see better upgrades/fixes for broken stuff. Sometimes a coat of paint is just not enough...

I thought it was a pretty cool addition when it worked well. It was supposed to be subtle. And really, could it have cost that much? But at the same time, what is so hard to fix about the effect? Ugh.

Course not ever having been to DL and riding Pirates there...I have no comparison. BUT I do like POTC at WDW. I also loved the Capt'n Jack additions they did a while ago. Mermaids...yeah I get it...shame it was not done better and lasted longer/working.

ALL that beach scene does is make me want to jump out of the boat and grab a selfie on the beach. Not condoning that type of behavior...but it would be neat! And I don't think I'd need my selfie-stick to get it done either!!! ROFL ;)

I rode POTC in WDW at least a half dozen times last Sept and didn't see the mermaids. I saw the skeleton on the beach and thought that was the mermaid addition. I guess I didn't realize I should have been looking for something else. I was more fixated on if the mist was working or not.

If the schedule holds true, I'll get to ride on 9-25 and 9-26. I'll hope for the best but plan to ride in 2016.

You probably could have seen it and not realized it was supposed to be mermaids.....The effect is simply moving lights under the water to both sides of the boat as you are approaching the skeleton scene. Simulating the mermaids swimming just under the surface, getting ready to strike the unwary sailor.

Hum.... much is made of this particular pricing... like it is about the "day ticket" rate at ski areas, however I wonder what the average park-goer actually pays per day? The price per day for the tickets slides down fast....... and I am guessing that the vast majority of guests are on multi-day passés.

A 5 day base ticket with the current price increase is only $63 a day.

Anyone have RELIABLE statistics?

I remember we talked about this one time on the podcast. I have no idea where the info came from, but I do remember someone saying how surprised we'd be at the number of one day tickets sold. Like I said, no reliable source to fall back on here, but that's stuck with me.

We've done "girls trips" a couple of times where we only went to the parks for one day, but we all had non-expiring tickets at the time, so it wasn't an issue. If we do it again it will hurt a little more the next time.

On one trip we hit three parks in one day, and then we had a LOOONNNNG drive back to Vero Beach.

So are we saying that length of stay passes are not effected by this latest price hike for admittance?

I seem to remember DW's math last trip showing that we paid maybe $44/day for park admissions during our 10 day stay. Course we book thru MJ and I don't recall getting a direct break down of our costs. Usually the package is very good and it includes our CBR stay/10 day length of stay passes and QSDP. Our own numbers and cifering gave us the approximate ticket price of $44/day or so knowing what the CBR cost and QSDP alone. AGAIN just rough math used here.

Just wondering...

My point is since everyone is likely paying MORE to get in to MK and all the parks we need to see more upkeep at any attraction/ride. I didn't mean that only the walk-in's who pay over $100 are footing the whole bill for all the upkeep of the parks. ;)

Just looked up park tickets (only) on the WDW site.....A 10 day base ticket is listed for $365.00 ($388.73 w/tax). Add Park Hopper or Water Parks for $64 (total $456.89 w/tax), or both for $90 (total $484.58) -- flat fee for length of ticket. That would make the base ticket $36.50 ($38.88); with Park Hopper or Water Parks it would be $42.90 ($45.69), and for both it would be $45.50 ($48.46) per day.
