That's just a wild rumor right now, but there has been some discussion of removing the movie theme and making it mostly Star Wars and Pixar. It would be pretty much a complete overhaul of the park, not just additions.

Curious to see how they would address current E attractions and the beautiful Hollywood street theme at the park entrance if they end up doing a complete overhaul.

I'm with you on that. Well, sorta. I thought the hand gave "depth" to SSE. By that I mean it made SSE seem as big as it really is. Without the wand, the size of it can be deceiving. Plus, anything Mickey is cool with me. I love how the "Epcot" portion would sparkle - just gave SSE an extra something.
I'll say this: I'm glad it was there for 3 of our 7 trips, but it looks great without it, too.

I think they'd leave ToT and RnRC there - as well as TSMM -
Friend at work's suggestion - rename to Disney's Hollywood Adventure - then you can put anything related to "Hollywood" aka movies in there......

This is actually the rumored new park name.
I expect Sunset Blvd will remain as it is and the majority of work will be done around Echo Lake and the old Backlot area. The park will have ro remain open while they overhaul it, which will take a few years. They will need their headliners open while they work.

I don't think I'm as excited about this as many seem to be. I LIKE the Hat...it's the ICON on so many videos, or brochures or maps representing DHS! And I like the photo op! But ya..it does SORT of stop traffic ....although being a Mom of two boys..it's a great place for "if you're lost GO THERE!" or place for your group to congregate! I just hope it's gonna look fantablous! I like change...but not TOO many!

It always looked awkward when you walked in the park, it looked too big and crowded. I hope they expand over by star tours more. I love star wars and with the new movie coming out I have my hopes up for more star wars at DHS!! :darth::trooper::chewy::ewok:

Here's another vote for moving it from it's current location, but re-installing it somewhere else in the park, or maybe out front, or somewhere. It's a great photo backdrop.

I'm sure it wasn't there on the 18th, because I remember us being very surprised and discussing it at some length. Evidently it's an easy stage to set and strike!
Keep in mind that on my previous visit, the stage in place was the one for the Frozen stuff (fireworks etc.), and that stage was fairly extensive beyond the normal hat stage. So it's not impossible that it was just so compact or inconspicuous by contrast to the Frozen stage that we didn't notice it. But I very much doubt we failed to see it if it was there. My money's on efficient set and strike crews.

Because "meet in front of the Chinese Theater" is too confusing????

Why not put in the front entrance, where the Christmas tree is? Good focal point as you walk up the gates.
Not sorry to see the hat go...like the SSE wand before it, it was nice for a while. I can't wait to take a photo of my daughter in front of the theater, as the hat's been in the way of that her entire life.
