It's being reported by multiple sites that SSR premiered the new mugs yesterday. They are available with either lime green or purple lids. They will be making their way to other resorts starting today as the handled versions run out.

And, yes, they say this move is based on customer feedback.

Customer feedback? Maybe. More likely is that they can purchase them from their supplier for a little bit less without the handle, thus adding to the already huge profit margin on them. Beancounters win again!

Interesting. I've seen many people use the handles to hook the mugs to their backpacks.
Personally I prefer without them as well [fits in my car cupholders better ;) ]

Not sure how I feel about it, but wish they offered both as a choice.

Don't they always? Anyone not looking at finances first really better evaluate their business position.

I will say this though (off topic), I think their choice in plastic utensils is excellent. Dixie utensils really hold up all the food you eat. I hope they don't purchase cheaper ones down the road.

I like that I can fit it in my cup holder and the tote I carried had a slot that it would fit in if there wasn't a handle. To each their own I guess

I think its a bad idea. Hubby's disability means his grip is weakened, severely so on his bad days. This means he can't hold a cup without a handle without risk of spilling it. If they're still handle-less in a couple of years when we next go, we'll bring our old ones and pour drink into it!!

I like the handle free mugs better too but it is probably because most of my other mugs/cups are Tervis style or Starbucks and they don't do handles.

I'm in the same boat as your husband. Due to arthritis in my hands I have issues with losing my grasp on items, 99% of the time I'm perfectly fine but the 1% can cause major messes with handleless cups. I wish we had a choice of with or without.

My mother has the same issue. Even with a cup that has handles sometimes she spills buy it is a lot less frequent. A choice would be the best option otherwise I would prefer the handles.

If the Disney marketing machine is true to form, they'll soon offer an add-on handle, in a variety of styles & colors, with additional ($$) add-on bling - for only an additional $7.99 each!

Look at how they messed with the iconic Mickey Mouse ears.

I never cared for the handles either so this move actually suites me just fine. We used to bring the mugs home but they took up so much room in the cabinets with the handle sticking out, we would end up throwing them away eventually. Now we just chunk them in the garbage when we are leaving the resort. We might actually keep a few without the handles.
