The Magic Kingdom park has begun to test a new alternative to Biometric Touch Points at the gates.
An Optional 'Facial Recognition' gate is being intermittently tested at the park. Guests are asked to keep on their Face Mask, but remove any hats or sunglasses.
Upon initial use, a reference picture is taken and is stored for 30 days before the image is deleted and another would need to be taken. On subsequent visits, the reference photo is used by an automated Facial Recognition system in place of the BioMetric touch point to permit entry. MagicBands are still used in conjunction with the Facial Recognition test.
The Disneyland Resort has used a reference picture for Cast Members to review on multi-day passes and Annual Passes, but this is the first of such instance at the Walt Disney World resort.

Oh thank goodness. It can't be worse that being stuck behind a group that can't figure out what finger they used ... will be interesting to hear the feedback from people in the test.

Right?!?! I have a rule. Pointer finger of opposite hand than the one you wear your magic band on. So you can "Mickey to Mickey" and touch point at the same time. [emoji23] My family thought I was crazy on our big extended family trip but once they saw people getting stuck they quit hounding me about being so "bossy." [emoji23]

I just watched a video of a recent trip to the Magic Kingdom posted on YouTube. The couple vlogging used the Facial Recognition testing line. Looks like it's going to be easy peasy.
Nice work, pal.

Unfortunately, that wouldn't work for me. I switch wrists daily for my MagicBand -- to even out the 'sunburn' marks (tan lines? LOL)

Either way I have tan lines. Fitbit watch on one wrist and Magic Band on the other. [emoji23]

Wait til you are stuck behind the person who cannot remember what face they used... LOL...
You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.
