Is it possible to purchase an item at a shop in the parks, and have it shipped directly to my house? Thinking a surprise for mom on mother's day as that will be when I am at WDW.

Cost? Timeframe?

Yes. Shipping merchandise home (or anywhere else for that matter) is always an option. Just tell the CM that you want to ship the item home. You will pay standard rates (maybe more?). The nice thing is that if they ship something out of Florida, they don't charge you sales tax. Depending on the item(s) that savings could well be more than the shipping. At the very least, it reduces it.

I absolutely love doing this. I can send presents to my kids or it extends the magic after I get home when the packages arrive and I get to open them up. Grin It does seem to take a while for the packages to get to my house, but it makes travelling so much easier and fewer luggage charges at the airport. Just let them know at the counter when you are buying it that you would like to ship it. They fill out all of the paperwork and make it so easy for you.

I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Just something to add, we ship quite a lot...but the shipping charge is based on cost not weight...I suppose it all evens out in the end, and they will replace if broken...we send home personalized Christmas ornaments... We once shipped the Cinderella castle play set a month before Xmas to our daughter in Colorado...it was broken once opened on XMAS morning...they called, disney sent a shipping label, and they got a new one through the mail. Love disney customer service.

We've done it several times from the Art store, and when we bought too much stuff. Works great. In fact, rates are really reasonable and they do a great job of packing stuff up. Also, my wife loves xmas stuff more than she loves me, and all of it has made it back unscathed. Great way to go.

Here's a question kind of related to this. Is it possible to get gifts bought at one hotel's gift shop shipped to another? How about something bought along the boardwalk like a Caricature?:mickey:

You cannot do it at the Swan and Dolphin, but I have done it at the Disney resorts.

I sent an email, but they want me to call them. That'll never get done.

Some venues, probably like the one you mention, lack the ability to send things to other WDW resorts for guests to pick up later. But most shops in the parks and resorts will send purchases to your WDW resort for you, as long as it isn't within two days of your departure. It takes them time to get it from place to place.

You need to fill out a form. We have had some resort gift shop CMs (at AKL Jambo) tell us it can't be done, but it absolutely can. Just ask a different CM to make sure. Sometimes you get another story with another CM. I suspect that some CMs just don't want to deal with the forms, but that is rare. They're usually very happy to help. Once you arrange for it to be sent to your resort, you simply pick it up about a day later at your own resort's gift shop.
