Does anyone know if this ride usually has a long wait in the afternoon? We are thinking of waiting til later in our day to do it since you get all wet.

Depends on the season/weather:
In the summer, expect long waits. You might want a FP if you don't want to wait.
But in January, when it's about 45-50 degrees outside, hardly anybody will be in line.

If you are planning on doing it in the afternoon I would definitely consider using one of your FP+ choices for it

As joonyer said, its seasonal. During the winter months the ride is often a walk-on. On hot summer days the standby wait time will be 90 minutes or more.
