I was up at about 7:45am on Saturday, August 9. I threw on my running gear and headed down to Evolution on deck 4 to meet up for the runDisney Castaway Cay 5K. There were probably 40 people who participated. We disembarked and walked over to the start line on Castaway Cay. It was already in the mid 80's and I was sweating pretty good just from the walk. The 5K kicked off at about 9am. I finished it in 27:30, which was pretty good considering the heat & humidity. There were a couple of teenagers who had been talking a good game with a young woman they were with. They started off sprinting and I passed them at about the 1/4 mile mark. By the time I went into my second trip to the observation tower, they were coming out of their first trip to it; they were walking. The young ones aren't always faster!
After finishing the 5K and getting my Mickey medal (a plastic Mickey icon medal), I bought a Castway Cay 5K t-shirt and pin. I re-boarded the Dream, got cleaned up, and we grabbed breakfast at the Enchanted Garden. It was a buffet and was decent.
After breakfast, we headed out to Castaway Cay. We rented kayaks, which is something Justin wanted to do, and then spent some time in the water at the family beach.
After swimming, we grabbed lunch at Cookie's BBQ on Castaway Cay, along with several ice cream cones! We checked out a couple of the shops after lunch. Justin & Sharon headed back to the Dream while Mark & I tried the Pellican Plunge water slide. It was just OK. Mark & I made our way back to the Dream.
We all went up to deck 12 where we played an enjoyable game of Goofy golf. It's a nice little miniature golf course that you should try if you haven't. We then played some ping pong. Justin & Mark were having some trouble; it seems we might have neglected their education some when it comes to ping pong.Sharon & Mark quit before Justin & I, which means they missed the moment where Justin managed to hit the ping pong ball from where we were on deck 12 up onto deck 13. The ball came back down a couple minutes later. We looked up and a crew member had thrown it down to us.
After ping pong, we got cleaned up and headed to to deck 4 to watch as the Dream sailed away from Castaway Cay. Justin & Mark played some shuffleboard and then it was time for dinner at the Enchanted Garden. It was good. The tomato soup was so good I asked for another bowl.
After dinner we did some shopping and then we all went to see the 8:30pm showing of Disney's Believe in the Walt Disney Theatre. It was another well-done show. After the show we got our luggage out into the hall so it could be offloaded for us in the morning.
We all caught the 10:30pm showing of Guardians of the Galaxy in the Buena Vista Theatre. It was good, though it was not good to be up that late. We had to be at breakfast at 6:45am.

I have never been on the Disney Cruises however I have heard Castaway Cay is the best part. Your family seemed to really enjoy it.
