We all know a Disney vacation can be tiring. And we can all use a recharge. Well, Wednesday, Day 3, was our rest up day. I did cave and eventually made plans for MK, but only at night for Happily Ever After.
Day started off fine. My father and I took a bus over to MK, then the monorail to Polynesian. We had breakfast booked at Kona Cafe, one of my must dine at on every trip. My father has pancakes and I had the Tonga Toast. Our server was great. We were seated right away and didn't have to wait for anything. He brought us out coffee, then food came out quickly as well. A few years back, I didn't enjoy my Tonga Toast and felt the quality of the restaurant went down. But during my last few trips, Kona has been redeemed. It is back on my must do list.
After breakfast we hopped the monorail back to MK, then over to the bus to go back to Old Key West. We were not planning on going into MK until later on. Trust me, I had a hard time NOT entering the Magic Kingdom. But, I kept my strength.
We got back to our room at OKW, and changed into our bathing suits. We were right by the hospitality house, so the pool was right there. Was a nice sunny day, early afternoon. And it was hot. My father took a swim in the pool while I just sat on the lounge chair. He came out of the pool and sat on the chair next to me, getting in some sun. I kept watching the sky cause I saw dark clouds slowly creeping. I mentioned to my father how the sky was starting to look threatening. We decided we were going to pack up and go back to the room before it rained. Well, we didn't make it. The slowly creeping storm clouds weren't exactly creeping slowly. In mere minutes, it rained. And rained. And rained. It was.... THE DELUGE. We were drowned rats by time we got to the room. But that was OK, because we dried off, and turned the temp up in the room as to not become too cold. Once we warmed up, yep, the temperature went back down.
We spend the time during the rain watching TV until it was time to head to Wilderness Lodge. The rain had slowed down and was at a practical stop when we left. We took the bus to Epcot (as that was the first bus that arrived) then the next bus to Wilderness Lodge, which was already at the stop waiting.
We dined at Geyser Grill, another favorite and must do. However, this time, we had some poor service. My father and I ordered the bison burger. I order mine with everything. And he orders his with just bacon and cheese. The server took both orders. However, only mine came out. I tried to explain to the person bringing the food we had two orders, and he kept insisting we only had one. He finally took my father's order (the person bringing the food was not our original server, no idea where she went, break maybe???), and eventually his order arrives. Now, we had an issue with our sodas. Pure water, no taste, no carbon. I asked if we could get new sodas as these were watered down. The new cups of soda were better. Could have been they needed to change out the tanks. But anyway, we devoured our bison burgers. So, yes, even with that hiccup, the burgers were FANTASTIC. We understand mistakes happen, and they corrected their mistake. No one was upset or mad.
After we ate, we headed on bus to Magic Kingdom. Goal was to only watch Happily Ever After since this was the only free night we had to see it. We sat on a bench on Main Street and waited. And waited. And....
RAIN.
Started raining on us, pouring actually. We didn't want to stay, so we just left. Twice, in one day, we were poured on. I was a little upset because I did want to watch Happily, but I didn't want to watch in the rain. So back to OKW we go.
Back at the room, we again had to dry off and change into dry clothes. We mad a pot of coffee, sat back and had some cookies. I put on the TV and tuned into the channel you can select what Disney special to watch. I was not going to be denied so we watched Happily Ever After in the comfort of the resort room.
We stayed up a little while longer then called it a night. My father want to his bedroom, and I to my pull out. I know I fell asleep pretty much right away. I knew we had another fun packed, and probably, long day ahead at Disney-MGM, I mean, ahem, Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Day Four - Disney's Hollywood Studios and a major bus issue
You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.

Sorry the rain caught you twice on the same day!! We have had a lot of rain in Florida recently. Still, I think you achieved your goal of having some down time!
