Even with the older DS heading to college next fall and all the expenses that go with it, the DW somehow manages to spring on me the beginnings of ANOTHER trip to the World....and for the first time -- a summer excursion! Looks like we are leaning towards a mid to late July timeframe. Locking into some great ticket prices flight-wise and are narrowing down where we want to shack up during our stay (looks to be a choice of Moderates). Normally summer and central Florida is not my DS' first, second or third choice when planning a vaca but it works best for us this time around so let the planning begin! :mickey:

I am sure I will ask for some tips as we get closer that makes navigating the potential hot temps a bit more bearable. I did it as a teen many years back during late June and I remember experiencing many toasty, sweaty days walking the park, waiting on lines, etc. We are also not tipping off our 2 DS' until we get closer - possibly after the older graduates H.S. in June.

Time to start stuffing the change jar!!

My biggest advice is if you are staying on property take advantage of extra magic hours at both ends of the day. That way you take breaks back at the hotel for rest or pool time during the heat. We also while in the parks tried to put an indoor show in between outdoor things to help cool off. Last June and then again in early September were my first times down during the heat. It was awful! Between the heat, the humidity and the rain. Yikes

Yes, summer trips can be hot but you can manage them. Mid-day pool breaks are a great idea. You might also consider having a sit-down table service lunch so you spend time in a nice, air conditioned restaurant.

UPDATE!! UPDATE!!

Looks like we r now looking at 2nd week of August instead of July - yes, I guess the "really hot theme" still applies - leaning towards a slightly longer trip then the past several (a week-ish length) which is good, and possibly staying back at POR OR with reduced rates coming out maybe a POLY stay - good and good....AND I just ordered myself an INTERCOT tee(charcoal) - my old one is just that now, old! All in all a great way to start a Monday! :mickey:
