Thursday, May 12

We get up, finish packing, and then drag our bags out to the resort airline check-in desk. With that accomplished, we head upstairs and have a light breakfast at Contempo Cafe. We head back to our room and hang out for a bit. We decided to leave earlier than normal after being warned that security lines are longer than usual and knowing that Orlando's security lines are often a nightmare - neither of us had the TSA pre-check designation so we knew we would need to go through the regular security lines. We took our carry on bags down to the car, stopped and gassed it up and drove to the airport.

Our car was quickly turned in and we headed to the terminal. What a surprise!!! It appears Orlando has made some significant improvements in how they are handling security. It was much better than it usually is and we were quickly through to the other side. But....that means we now have more time to kill than we had thought we would. We stop in the Mexican restaurant and have a leisurely lunch, then head to our gate. Oops - our gate has changed and our plane is listed as being delayed by 20 minutes. It was actually more like a half hour to 40 minutes. Apparently, our plane was coming in from Mexico and was running late. They were further held up by customs checks since the plane had crossed borders. We were finally on board and quickly took off.

We landed in Boston and then got delayed on the tarmac there as the pilot announced there was some sort of emergency landing coming in. We could see lots of emergency vehicles speeding around and clusters of flashing lights at either end of the airport. Fortunately, it must have been a false alarm or a smaller emergency than originally thought as there was no information on the emergency ever broadcast on the local news.

Our ride was waiting for us and we were quickly dropped at home. One more Disney trip now just a memory.

Thanks so much for the lovely reports, (I was glad when I checked in this am after the long weekend and saw the last couple days worth.) Sounds like you had a nice day at MK on your last full day. So in the future do you think you would continue to do Vero first and then WDW or maybe the other way around?

For a variety of reasons, it worked well for us to have the quiet time at Vero at the beginning of this particular trip though I think it might be better, at other times, to end a trip with the more relaxed atmosphere at Vero.
