What is the best way to get from MCO to Universal? There will be at least 8 of us.

I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

There are usually 5 of us and they put us in a van. It costs between $45 - $50 one way.....plus tip.

Car service works well too..

But, for a round trip taxi, you'll be out about 120 bucks. I've seen tons of deals on SUVs for just a little more, then you have the perk of having a vehicle... Orlando has some of the best car rental prices.

I've gotten SUVs for 200 several times.

This is true but then you have to factor in the expense of parking. We always rent a car while staying at Disney to avoid the bus system, but never rent a car while at Universal because you don't need transportation to get to the parks.

$120 round trip probably is exactly on the money....but you are still saving $80 to $100 if you would rent a car, approx. $20 a day on parking, and have the added perk of not having to drive yourself. I strongly recommend not renting a car while at Universal....unless you need to leave the property.

Hire a private company. I think there is a huge list on the MCO website. We use Star Trans-VIP for airport and cruise transfers. You can see their rates on the website http://www.startransvip.com/
Try Mears - http://www.mearstransportation.com/ I think the largest van they have is an 8 passenger van. Not sure if it has enough room for the luggage.
