backpacks on the rides?

Yeah, it's a problem taking them on a LOT of rides. However, Universal provides free lockers (timed) that you can use while you are in line and riding. They are VERY strict about carrying on even small things like cell phones on the majority of their thrill rides. If lockers are available at a ride, it means you cannot carry on your backpack.

Off of the top of my head:

Only what fits in your pockets (No backpacks, purses, or cameras) at:
Men in Black
The Mummy
Forbidden Journey
Jurassic Park

Nothing at all...Nothing even in pockets:
The Hulk
Dueling Dragons
RRR

Simpson you can leave your stuff on the floor near your car.

There are more restrictions but I can't think of them right now.

I try to go to Universal "Hands Free"...It's just easier and less time consuming. I know everyone can't do that.

Thanks for the info! I thought this would be an issue there. I kind of remember lockers for the Hulk from several years ago. Will have to come up with a better plan for US/IOA than for WDW. I had been using a WDW cross body bag with Mickey on it that I bought a few years ago, but it is ruining my tops because the straps have a rough edge. There are some things that we need to bring with us, so will have to figure something out. Thanks again! Kari

You can't take anything that won't fit in your pockets, with the exceptions NJGirl listed above.

Don't bother, just a huge pain. Cargo shorts or any small bag that might fit on your belt or under your clothes.

You are not allowed to take anything on DD and RRR you must pass through a metal detector before entering the ride.

Bring a sick bag with you on RRR..

I found out the hard way on DD, as I had my cell phone in my zipped pocket..no signs anywhere stating no phones...:confused: and I was just walking through with no intention on riding, just keeping my daughter company in the line. TEAM LEADER was EXTREMELY RUDE...
