Universal is starting to release teasers and info on their new attraction, Skull Island: Reign of Kong.

It looks very exciting. Opening date looks to be Fall 2016.

When I saw the picture of the safari type truck with people in it, it gave me hope that it is not a simulator ride ... but that may just be extreme wishful thinking on my part.

I just watched the video. Now that is something to get excited about. It looks like it is going to be an experience.

Karen..it doesn't look like a simulator ride...what makes you think it may be...did you read that it may be?

It will probably rely heavily on screens, similar to Gringott's. It is opening in a year and has a huge show building. It's not going to be something like Indiana Jones Adventure or Dinosaur with that time line.

Nothing from the promo ... it's just simulators/screen rides are Universal's standard "go to" so I doubted it would be something old school along the lines of Jurassic Park.

I don't mind the simulators, but am hoping it is along the lines of the old King Kong attraction. We loved that attraction and still can't figure out why it was closed down. It was very popular. The old attraction didn't have any simulators. I guess we will have to wait for more info.

It is not a simulator ride... Not even close... Someone has mentioned, yes, there will be screens, but they broke it down to 70% real sets/AA's and 30% screens... And a rumored huge Kong AA, which will no doubt not sit broken for 6 years (and counting) LOL...

Well, considering most of the promo video footage is from Kong 360 at Universal Hollywood, it is probably safe to say that this ride will be a combination of that and some "real" sets.

Don't know if you rode the old King Kong attraction but it had two or three huge AA Kongs. So much fun. Hoping that they do something like that but improved with today's technology.

I did.. Right before they closed it down for good... I'm really looking forward to this new Kong experience... Should be amazing!

I'm going to have to change my location on here... Skull Island now officially announced... Now, do I change it to Hyrule? Mushroom Kingdom? Avengers Tower? Starship Enterprise? Something for Fast and Furious? Can't use Modor or The Shire...

I'm wondering if they will include the banana scent effect from the original Kong ride, or if there afraid it may attract all of the minions away from Despicable Me?:D

That would be a nice tip of the cap to the old attraction 😉
