We're planning to go to WDW for the two weeks leading up to Christmas this year. We plan to be there from Dec. 10-23. We want to spend two of those days at US/IoA. Would we be wiser to go during the first week or the second? I don't know much about crowds at Universal, but I do know that in our past two trips there, we haven't spent a full day at the park. We are big Potterheads, and we haven't been since Diagon Alley opened, so the main focus of the two days will be there and Hogsmeade, although hubby and I will want to do the thrill rides, as well. I mostly just want to know how the crowds will be if we save it for the second week.
Also, which of the holiday things are worth seeing at Universal? We like the real Macy's parade, so that might be an option, but I really don't know much about the others. Opinions?

We went Saturday, Dec 12 this past year. We were at the gate 45 minutes before the park opened. Taxi was quicker than we anticipated. Hubby rode the riptide (I think it's called), while I strolled to diagonal alley to get a locker. We rode the ride twice and caught the train to hogsmeade. We rode the Forbidden journey twice, and then the dueling dragons, walked around Juassic pArk, and ate at the three broomsticks....finished walking around, did a couple more rides and took the train back to Diagonal Alley. We had both been there in May, so there is a lot to see, but we didn't spend much time...went to that music review, I forget the name, it's closed now, and hubbyndid men in black...we didn't do the parade, but I did see some of the balloons while waiting outside of men in black. We found that the longest wait of the day was the train ride around 3pm back to Diagonal Alley...probably 45 to 60 minutes...it was NOT as crowded as I anticipated...we left at 6:30, the park closed at 7pm that night.
