For one day tickets, you aren't going to get a deal unfortunately. However, you can get them in advance to save the hassle of the walk up windows/machines by connecting with our sponsor, the OFFICIAL TICKET CENTER for Universal Studios tics: http://www.officialticketcenter.com/default.aspx?affid=TC21LBC

Depending on how things go, and what deals are out there, renting a car for a week or a few days might be comparable to going with Mears and provide you some flexibility.

You can also go the towncar route and - and Quicksilver who also sponsors the site will take you there for $85 roundtrip http://www.quicksilver-tours.com/

We used Mears to go from WDW to Universal. It was very reliable and was not as expensive as I thought it would be (can't remember the cost but since we did not want a car for a week it was a good deal for us). They picked us up right at the front of the resort and dropped us off at Universal. It was a little bit of a walk to the park entrance at Universal but it was fun to walk by the restaurants and shops on the way.

We ended up finishing up earlier than we planned but had no problem getting on an earlier bus to return to WDW. Mears will ask what time you want to be picked up at WDW and when you want to return from Universal. We finished a couple hours ahead of what we had planned on but the driver had no issues taking us back earlier (along with the other guests).

Like John said, Official Ticket Center for Universal tickets... That is who I use... As far as transportation, I usually rent a car cause I venture off property a lot... I'd trust John when he says Quicksilver or look into Mears...
