We are hoping to get to Universal Studios this Fall and to experience the new Diagon Alley side. Where is this "magic brick wall" that you pass through (replicating the Platform 9 3/4?).
It's my understanding that the Diagon Alley (where the Escape from Gringott's ride is) and the Train station are 2 completely different areas that are NOT joined together. Is this correct?
Thanks for the information!!
Melinda

The brick wall and Platform 9 3/4 is part of the queue for the Hogwarts Express train ride on the Universal Studios side. This ride requires a park to park hopper pass since it goes only one way at a time and connects you to Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure.
There are two train stations. One is near the entrance to Diagon Alley, out in the London Waterfront area (Universal Studios side). The other is in Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure side) at one end.

you will need a ticket for both worlds to ride the train from one world to the other, it is awesome.
I'm so excited to see this in April!

To answer your original question, the entrance to platform 9 3/4 is part of the entry to the queue for the Hogwarts express. This is a "Peppers ghost" illusion that is observable from the approach to the final queue. You can see other guests seemingly passing through a solid wall from one point in the queue, and it is quite convincing and well staged. However, when it is your turn to enter the platform it just appears to you as passing through a darkened tunnel. The overall themeing of the Kings Cross station is excellent and very true to both the movies and the actual station, although very much smaller......This is also true of the Diagon alley area, especially Knockturn alley which is in eternal darkness. It's just like you have entered the movie!
