We are going in May of 2017. With the new tiered ticket pricing, and the fact that they go up all the time - hubby said we should buy our 10 day tickets NOW and hold onto them. SO....how far in advance CAN they be bought? Is there a maximum, like a year? and on a related note, if I'm holding out hoping for the best possible deal, am I more likely to do that by buying a whole package, or by doing room only (and having my tickets already).

If it was me I would get your tickets now from our sponsor OTC and lock in that price. They're still selling 10 day PH for 435 per adult and 415 per child. This morning increases would cost from Disney 499.49 per adult and 478.19 per child, depending on how many you need this could be a substantial savings. In the past the only package requiring a ticket was those offering free dining, for May 2016 there is/was no FD offer but there was a room only discount offered. Just my opinion.

why are they so much cheaper? Do they expire if I don't use them until next May? (I know that tickets expire 14 days after first activation - I just don't know if there is a limit to how long you have between buying and activating)

No, there is no expiration on them. They sell them at the old price until they run out of that stock so they may not be around for long. Once they run out of their current stock they order more from Disney at the new price and will charge accordingly.

We are also planning to go in May 2017, but are waiting to book a package when those prices are released this summer. I'm not sure if it's cheaper but it is easier on me. I don't want to lose track of it.

Do you have to pick up your tickets at their location or do they mail them to you?
