I am having both my knees replaced in May and we are planning a ladies trip to WDW for over Thanksgiving. I am wondering how my new knees will hold up with all the walking?? My Dr. said I will be able to do it just fine but thought I'd ask any of you who have been to WDW since having your knees fixed. Family was there last June and I had to have a scooter. So looking forward to walking pain free!!! Also would appreciate extra pixie dust for a good, successful surgery May 20th!!! Thanks so much. :mickey:

I went 5 weeks after my knee replacement. I got an electric cart in the parks I walked some and rode some. By Thanksgiving you should be fine. Just rest when you feel you need it.

You will be great!

My Mom went to Disney shortly after each of her knee replacements, and she did very well, much better than she expected.

Especially by Thanksgiving, you'll be a whole new person.

You already know this, but getting moving and going to physio is so key in having the best recovery possible. Mom was always frustrated seeing people "take it easy" instead of pushing themselves at rehab.

Now, if you need an ECV for some days (or all days, or parts of days), don't worry about it. That is what they are there for. However, with your "new" knees, you'll feel like a whole new person!

:pixie::magic:Best wishes to you! As others have said , do your therapy (I am a Therapist, so am required by law to say that) but also keep up with a walking program. I always recommend people train for the activity so, walk daily, further and further. But remember there is a lot of standing and waiting at WDW as well! Take gel, ice pack to use nightly. I always tell my clients that new knees won't be 100% for about 1 year. There is no shame to taking a day off with an ECV too! The most important thing is that you have a great time.
