So my brother and his family are heading down to WDW over Spring Break and are currently able to make their FP selections based on the 60 day mark (60 +10 days). But it is possible that they may decide to shorten their length of time on property before heading down. So the question is this: What would happen to the FP selections he makes now at the 60 day mark for the week he is on property if he were to suddenly shorten his time on property and stay somewhere else off site (they may stay on property for only 1 day rather than a week)? Would he lose those FP selections for the days he is off-site or would those remain because he made them at a time when he was scheduled to stay on property for the whole week? Thanks!

As long as the 'shortened' day wasn't the first day of his trip, he should be fine. The 60 day (+10) is linked to the first day staying in a Disney resort. The +10 does not have to be in a Disney resort.
I do not know how it would work if the first day (Day 60) was changed to off site.
