Hi all,
For the party this year, I read that the adult costumes can't reach or drag the ground, and that capes can't go below the waist. I'm going as a pirate, and it has a vest that goes about 2/3 the way down in the back.
Has anyone dressed up for the party lately? Think this will be okay? I assume the security screening might be tight and that's okay by me but I don't want to run the risk of not getting in the party.

Disney reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that is considered inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests.
All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent.
Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into, and/or removed from, unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards.
GUESTS AGES 13 AND UNDER
Costumes and some masks may be worn, as long as the mask does not cover the entire face and eyes are visible.
GUESTS AGES 14 AND OLDER
Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (e.g., full-length Princess dresses)
Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
Masks of any kind may not be worn.

Hmmm. Based on that description I fear that the vest will be interpreted as a cape, since it is so long. Maybe I'll try to shorten it before we go.
If anyone has been already with a similar costume, let me know how it went!

I think you'll be perfectly fine. A vest is not a cape.

:ditto: I wouldn't worry about it. They are referring to long, flowing capes, the vest should be totally fine.
I'm sure that security will be tight, so I would travel light, if possible.

When I called it a vest, it may have been misleading.. It's almost floor length. It's like a sleeveless robe that goes over the pirate puffy shirt. I'm thinking about just taping it up about waist length just to be safe...
I've always wanted to dress up, but I'm having a little anxiety (as you all can tell!) about the complexity of the costume. It will be worth it I'm sure once I'm there!
