We've got an infant daughter so we haven't hit WDW wince the advent of FP+/Magic Bands and I'm trying to wrap my head around it all for an upcoming trip we're planning.
We're considering splitting time between a monorail hotel and the Dolphin/Swan. We're also debating getting tickets for the week or an annual pass.
Now that being said, from what I gather
We can get magic bands and book FP+ with Annual passes up to 30 days in advance for 7 days at a time right?
If we don't get annuals, we'd get magic bands for the monorail hotel part of the trip and can book FP+ 60 days out for that, correct?
I can't quite find if there are MAgic Bands for the Dolphin or how FP would work for that portion if we didn't do annuals.
As far as the FP+...I can book 3 rides a day only one of which would be a premium ride. After one is used, we can then book another. I'm assuming day of, say we decide to not go to a particular park or on a particular ride (say it's raining and we decide to pass on Splash Mountain) we can cancel a FP+ reservation and perhaps book another in it's place as long as it's available (yeah, right.lol) correct?
Also, are most dining reservations still 180 days out if you're on property and can you make those online through the My disney experience link/ or the app?
Trying to figure this all out so we have an idea when we book/buy tickets what we want to do. Thanks!
Another question..if we stay on property and get annual passes for tickets can we book 30 or 60 days out?
There are lots of moving parts to planning a trip, aren't there?
ADR's are 180 days in advance, no matter if you're staying on-site or off-site. If you are staying onsite, you can book for your entire trip at the first 180-day mark, whereas you have to book each day one at a time (at the 180-day mark) when offsite. You can make them online, or by calling Disney dining.
If you have an AP AND a resort reservation, you can book your FP+ at 60-days. Without a resort reservation, you can book FP+ at 30-days.
I'm not 100% sure about Magic Bands for a stay at the Dolphin, although their information page seems to suggest you'd get one. I'm not sure it matter though, since you'd have tickets from your first hotel stay, and that MB would still be active with tickets after you check-out.
You can book 3 FP+ experiences ahead of time, and at MK and AK, they can be any three attractions you like. For EPCOT and DHS, there is "tiering", so you'd book one of the "top" rides, and then two others. Once you have used your initial three, you can book another, depending on which attractions still have availability.

1. You need tickets in order to get fastpasses, all tickets are the same (Nothing special for APs vs multiday tickets).
2. Onsite guests get a 60 day FP booking window
3. Offsite guests get a 30 day booking window.
Swan and Dolphin appear to be eligible for the 60 day window.
They are ineligible for Magical Express however, so if you split stay, you either won't be able to get a ride from the airport or to the airport. Disney also MAY NOT transfer luggage to the Swan/Dolphin from what I remember. Swan/Dolphin WILL transfer your luggage to a Disney resort.
Infant daughter makes no difference for anything, other than they are to be part of the head count when you make a dining reservation whether they are eating anything or not. Once they are three, then you will need tickets, etc.
I don't know the specifics on who is eligible for magic bands, I believe that as an AP holder, you can get a MB, but I don't know if/how you can order it in advance of your trip. You can buy them at the parks though. A resort stay does qualify you for a MB (because it opens your doors). If you get MB for a resort stay and link your tickets, they will be on there until the tickets expire, which means you can use them for the second part of your stay (offsite) for park entry. You won't be able to use them for POS purchases, etc. Admission only.
You're doing it wrong.
I know it's a confusing system, but:
You don't wrap your head around magic bands. You wrap the magic bands around your wrist.
On our last trip, we got two complete sets of magic bands - one for our resort reservation and one as vacation club owners. And, although we are both annual passholders, we got one additional magic band - addressed only to my spouse for being a passholder. In total, we received 5 magic bands for that trip.
As noted, you must have purchased tickets of some sort in order to book fastpass+ reservations at all. Additionally, you need to have created a My Disney Experience account and linked your tickets and room reservations to that account. If you want to book fastpass+ reservations for all members of your traveling party, you need to "invite" the others to be part of your account and they need to accept the invitation.
You cannot book another fastpass+ after using 1 and/or having one expire. All 3 previously booked fastpass+ reservations need to have been used or need to have expired before you can book any additional fastpass+ options. When you book your initial three fastpasses, they all need to be in the same park and, as noted previously, some parks have restrictions on which rides you can book. When booking additional fastpass+ reservations after your first three have expired, you must visit an in-park kiosk to book additional fastfass+ reservations and you need to be physically present in the park for which you are booking fastpass+ reservations.
Good luck with your planning!!

haha...Thanks for the laugh.
My goodness, there are a lot of details to the new system. Of course, I imagine it's easier in use.
Thanks for the clarification that all 3 FP+ have to be used before booking a 4th (can you still delete and add a different 2nd or 3rd possibly?)
That being said, anyone miss the simple days of just driving golf carts around the Village? sheesh!
So, when I hit my 60 day mark and MDE lets me book FP, I can do 3 per day for whatever park we plan to be in? Or is it 3 total until they are used, in which case I should obviously book them for whatever park we go to first?
