 This might seem as a crazy question but I have been watching Disney videos on how visitors are smiling and kids are having a fun time using the bands to buy many different things around Disney and just say charge it to my room. Question is at the time of the purchase in the park is it working like a debit card when you scan the band or do you just see the bill when you check out of the things you charged and then pay for everything ?
Thanks.
This is how I think it works.:mickey: Credit card is on file at desk.
Value resorts $500 limit per room with charges going thru at night or if you stop at the desk to tell them to run it.
Mods limit $1000
Deluxe $1500
Hope someone corrects any errors. This is how it seemed to go at POP..

That's kind of the way it works.
Charging with the bands is just like charging with the old Key to the World card. Charges go on your room bill. When the total of your charges hit the dollar limit for your resort type (mentioned above), Disney will charge your card. They will only process the charge to your card when you hit the limit, you specifically ask them to run the charges, or on your final night at the resort. If you do hit the limit, they will charge your card, and the limit starts all over again.
You can ask to see an itemized bill at any time, if you want. I recommend doing that every couple of days at least. That way if there are any erroneous charges they can be dealt with before the credit card is actually charged.

Ahhh ok. Let me ask a follow up question. Would you be able to bring a prepaid Visa card with 500 dollars on it and just charge to that?
Thanks. John :mickey:
We weren't made aware of these limits on one of our visits, but found out very quickly when purchasing Very Bradley backpacks for my girls and watches for my boys. We were staying at AofA in a family suite and hit our limit. We were declined, which was quite embarrassing. We paid for it with the same card that was linked to the room. We knew that it wasn't the card, but wished that we had been told the limits upon check-in.

Yes. You could either pay for purchases with the prepaid Visa at the stores directly, or charge to the room using your band and then pay that bill with the Visa.
While the bands are easy, you do have to enter your PIN for every transaction. I've found that a Disney gift card is typically easier to use and the receipt has the remaining balance on it.

You need the PIN number that you selected at check in in order to charge on your magic band...we have never authorized for the kids to be able to charge. We give them gift cards, that we have had made with their picture on it....disney gift cards, from the disney store. People comment how cute they are when they use.

It's on the paperwork you sign at the check-in counter. The CMs write the amount on the form and you sign it (I think initial and a signature).
I assume the same language is on the online forms, but maybe not.
On that trip we did online check-in for the first time. The CM with the iPad said nothing about having a $500 limit and I don't recall reading about it when I did the online check-in. The CM at the Vera Bradley store told me to contact AofA Guest Services and tell them to charge out our card so that it could be reset to zero. After that, I made it a point to have them clear it out each day.

I see post after post where people claim that the system will automatically charge (and reset) your balance once you hit the 500/1000/1500 limit, but my experience has ALWAYS been like yours, that the stupid system simply shuts the account down until I spend an hour of my time seeing to it that it is charged and reset, usually over the phone while standing at a gift shop. It really aggravates me that the system does not seamlessly "reset" as it is advertised to do, which is why I now ALWAYS force the front desk to apply a credit balance to my account (using Reward dollars, gift cards, or cash) so that I set my own limit and guarantee uninterrupted hemorrhaging of vacation money!
