So due to some schedule changes with the hubby's job we have to reschedule our June trip. So I was wondering....how is late July/ early August? Our new dates so far are July 24th - Aug. 3rd. I know a lot of places are still out for school but I'm hoping it's a tiny bit less crowded than the beginning of June since it's closer to school starting in the South.

Well we live in Louisiana so we're used to hot and humid. It would be the only time we could make it back without having to pull the kids out of school before our annual passes expire. Oh well....we went for Christmas/New Years and managed the crowds okay. We did a lot last time so we'll just take it as it comes I guess.

It is warm and busy- still summer crowds. Not my favorite time to go. I like December and April when it is less humid.

We used to always go the first to mid-August and it was busy but NOTHING like it is during the holidays so you should be fine. It is hot and humid, but it sounds like you would have that under control. Hope you have a great trip.

So we are also from Louisiana and have to go during the summer months b/c my husband and I both teach high school. We go the week after July 4th b/c he has summer baseball until then, and its not that bad. Is it hot? Yes, but obviously we can handle that. Is is crowded? Yes, but my kids know you get up early, beat the crowds and take a break during the day. We enjoy the long park hours and the water parks. Hope you have a good trip! :mickey:

I'm in Eastern NC and we don't start school until the first week day on or near August 25th.
Graduation this year is June 13th.
School in the south doesn't start at the earliest til after Aug 6th.

We've been that time of year, and it is hot and humid. As far as crowds, you will run into some of the big tour groups from Brazil during that time year. (They're on school break at that time.) We had no issues with them, but I've heard not so good stories about them being unruly.

So basically nothing we haven't dealt with before. Hot and humid is nothing new and when we went in February a couple of years ago we had to compete with tour groups and cheerleading groups. I think we're going to make this a "go with the flow" trip since we just went in December and got to ride the majority of what we wanted. Thanks for all of the info!

You'll be fine as long as you take things at a slower pace. I see you're from South Louisiana too, so you know what to expect as far as heat. Typically, we did most of the parks after dark and did the water parks and Disney Quest in the heat of the day.

We went the first week of August in 2012 and had a great time. The parks were crowded but it wasn't too bad. Yes it was hot and humid but we're also from South Louisiana so it was nothing new to us. We tried to arrive at the parks as close to opening as possible. They've done a good job of having most of the queues shaded. It was manageable because we were going indoors for attractions to cool off then walk to the next spot and wait in shade. Every afternoon we cooled off with a mickey ice cream, dole whip :papple: , or something like that  We went back to our rooms in the afternoons for a nap and to escape the heat of the day. We'd return to the parks in the evenings and the sun wasn't as intense. Most afternoons had a typical summer rain shower. You know how that is... Steam bath :ack:

We do not regret going at that time of year. It is manageable, especially if you are used to it.
