I was under the impression you can get a new magic band per property stay. But when I go to customize the new bands, it only shows the bands from our trip last November even after I've set them all to inactive. And those previous bands have already been disposed (we didn't expect to go again so soon). Can we get custom ones or are we stuck with grey ones upon arrival? Should I report the old ones lost?

You do get new bands per property stay. Actually, per reservation so if you switch resorts during your vacation you can end up with 2. So, I'm not sure why you're not able to customize your bands. Double check to make sure your vacation is linked properly, make sure to clear your cache, and if those things don't work you might need to call Disney tech support.
