My kids go back to school Monday (8/18). Most of the central Florida counties have the same start date with the exception of Hillsborough (Tampa) which starts 8/19. Private schools may also have different dates.
As general rule most Florida schools go out a few days before the summer block out period starts for seasonal passes which is normally the second Monday in June. School normally starts the Monday after block out ends. Block out usually ends on a Friday. This year it lifts on 8/15.

:ditto: Same thing here in the panhandle. All our schools are starting Monday. Though I've already noticed a fairly big drop off in tourists as of this week (finally!) so other states I think started this week or last week.

We are in Davenport in Polk Co. School starts on Monday, 8/18.

This is good for me. We are heading down 8/23 and I've noticed some pretty long wait times. I am hoping these will be dropping and the crowds decreasing somewhat over the next 10 days
