We decided that our next trip would be for two weeks, so we were just waiting for our new baby to "choose" a birthday to plan it. We've made a tradition of spending each kid's first birthday in the MK. She decided to make her appearance on Dec. 22 :baby:, so that means we'll be at WDW for the two weeks leading up to Christmas.:(
We spent the first week of December at WDW two years ago, but I don't know just how much the crowds build in the following weeks. Other sites report that our first week (Dec. 11- 17) should be fairly mild, with a major building of people the following week (Dec. 18-23), but can anyone explain how that will translate into actual wait times? What can we expect to be able to do that week? We're going to get 10 day tickets, so we'll have 2-3 days in each park. Thanks!

All December crowds are heavier than they used to be, but in general your assumption is correct. Starting the weekend before Christmas crowds will begin to increase significantly. This can me 2+ hour waits for the most popular rides on standby but with FP it's still not too bad. Especially with a 1 year old just have a plan and don't try to do everything and you'll have a great time even with increased crowds.

We were there last year from the 8th - 16th. It was very busy (I think the last year of the Osborne Lights drove the crowds up some). Wait times for the popular rides were quite long on some days. We even saw long lines for attractions like the People Mover. If you use fastpass for your most critical must dos and take advantage of early morning entries (especially the morning extra hour if you stay on site), you should be able to do most/all of what you want.
