I'll update this first post each day with the forecast (though I'll occasionally miss a day), both long and short term. As a general rule, up to 7 days is a pretty accurate forecast, beyond that it's educated guessing and largely dependent upon how well the models are doing at that moment, which is why I call it "voodooland." If you have any specific weather questions or comments, even if it's for an area other than WDW, please post and I'll answer throughout the thread. I'll also post weather tidbits every so often. Without further delay, let's get to the forecast:

Weather at WDW - Update Thursday pm, April 30, 2015
A beautiful day today with lots of sun and heading toward 78 for a high. Through at least Monday everything should be clear with highs around 80-82. There's a slight chance of a brief passing shower but nothing to be concerned about. Tuesday and Wednesday go to 81-83 with a better chance of an afternoon thunderstorm, but still no organized rain. Thursday's high should be around 85 as an upper ridge strengthens.

Long range...May 8-16 still doesn't show any sign of organized rain, but it does look like afternoon pop up thunderstorms will be pretty common each day with highs hanging in the mid 80s.

Travel Issues :drive::plane:
No major delays today or tomorrow.

Any of you who are nervous about flying, especially related to turbulence, go here and here to learn a lot about turbulence and other issues that sometimes cause anxiety when flying. Hopefully all of this will help you relax and enjoy the trip to WDW more!

That's one thing I always want to remind folks about! We have a tendency to panic if we see "rain" but voodooland is just model data and not accurate enough for a forecast (hence the name).

Yup, it's already looking better! :mickey: After the winter we had here in the Northeast, as long as I don't have to wear my winter jacket in mid April I'll be happy! We still have about a foot of snow on the ground, ugh.

Do you know if the storms coming in will be like the summer storms that pop up and leave quickly or long events?

This will be a little more than the summer-style storms.

Weather at WDW - Update Monday pm, April 20, 2015
With some strong thunderstorms around the high will stay below 80 today. Tomorrow and Wednesday should be mostly rain-free, though there is a chance of a brief thunderstorm in the afternoon. Highs will be around 85 both days. Thursday looks stormy with a high around 80. Friday through Monday morning looks mostly clear with just a slight chance of hit and miss afternoon storms. The high Friday will be around 85 then 88-90 for Saturday and Sunday but back to around 81-83 on Monday as the afternoon storms become more numerous.

Long range...April 28 looks pretty stormy as a cold front rolls through. April 29-May 6 looks dry. April 29-30 highs stay in the mid to upper 70s, then quickly jump to the mid to upper 80s for May 1-6.

Travel Issues :drive::plane:
Orlando is delayed due to thunderstorms

My sister left out of MCO yesterday afternoon (she had a presentation to make this morning in Chicago instead of going back to Newark from Tampa as was her original plan). She was delayed leaving by 3 hours due to the severe thunderstorms. I was driving back to Tampa with the rental car and got caught twice in torrential downpours on my way to Tampa airport. My flight to Philadelphia was quite bumpy.

You would have been flying right along the frontal boundary yesterday so I have no doubt it was a bumpy ride!
