If anyone in the PA, NJ, MA area has a chance to go - Longwood Gardens has outdone their Christmas Display this year. It is outstanding!

The theme is birds. Much better than last year - apples (fruit).

You need to get tickets ahead of time since a lot of the evenings sell out.

We think about going every year, but never make it. I will only go on a night that's not too cold, so buying tickets in advance is a problem. I really would love to see the displays this year.

You really shouldn't miss it! I was very impressed. The one nice thing about Longwood Christmas, even if it is cold a lot of the displays are inside so you still have plenty to see if walking outside is not something you want to do. We have been when it has snowed and it was very magical. I don't always get to the treehouses. Hope you get to go!!

The cafe has good food also. It runs about$15 a person with a yummy dessert. The main dining room is normally booked months ahead. It's very good but in the same price range as signature dining at WDW. Try the mushroom soup if you go- Kenneth Square is the mushroom capital of the world!

I saw them building one of the tree houses on the Animal Planet and thought it was so cool!

I do not like mushrooms.....we have a friend who runs a farm sanctuary in Avondale. I used to transfer rabbits from our shelter to his place and even with the windows rolled up tight I could still smell the mushrooms as we rode through the town. It's funny how you can smell them in the air when there is such a concentrated amount in one area.

I just told my husband that I wanted to make the trip so I guess we will see if we get to it this year.

We are hoping to visit there this Christmas season. Wanted to ask you if the tickets sell out quickly during the week after Christmas? Not sure what day we would be going, so wanted to play it by ear and decide that day in the morning and then purchase online.

We were in that area for a wedding one year in the fall, but didn't get a chance to visit the gardens. It looks like a nice place to visit.

What is eating in the café like? Cafeteria style? Reservations needed?

Also, how long does it take to walk around....plan on how long to spend there?

If you are not a member, you would need to check with them. We can go anytime but even members have to reserve a spot. They don't take reservations- eating an off time is best. The line to get in can take awhile. The dining is a cafeteria set up.

They are having a buffet that you book but I dont know anything about it.

The main dining room with table service is probably not an option - it books up fast.

If you check the website it will let you know what is available.

Hope you both get to go!
A couple of hours , plus eating, would get you through most of it. Especially in the winter.

I edited that a little. I typed it after a 10 hour work day and it was a little confusing

Hopefully we'll finally get back next year. I haven't been there since I was a teenager, and I know I would appreciate it much more now. This year is out since I could go into labor any day now!
