Don't be so sure that being the parent of the groom frees you from anything. My two boys and their wives expected me to do most of the planning for their weddings. My family has planned so many weddings, we could probably do it in our sleep.

Well, I figure we will be doing some planning someday, as parents of the groom. But if we end up doing more of the actual ceremony and reception, it will be a simpler event. Back when my husband and I got married, we did all the planning long distance, since he was living in New Hampshire at the time, I was in Florida and the wedding was in Minnesota. We paid for the majority of the wedding, including tux rentals and bridesmaids dresses (only two bridesmaids), cake, catering (BBQ, salads and desserts), flowers. We had beer, wine, champagne and whatever alcohol the rest of the family wanted to contribute. My family did help with some expenses and logistics, because they lived in Minnesota! Aside from my dress, I had to order everything pretty much over the phone since the internet wasn't a "thing" back then. After our first dance, we changed into casual clothes and played volleyball with our friends and family at our reception, which was held at my brother's country place. It was one of the most relaxed, happy and comfortable weddings I have ever been to, if I do say so myself. Smile

That sounds like an amazingly fun time.

I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.
