A WW coach suggested I make a list of all the foods I can eat and preset the points for those. Since I will be eating college dining hall food, I am able to calculate the points ahead of time because the dining halls provide nutritional info. I will definitely be walking across campus more and I will try some exercise videos. Just tough with all the other college food temptations. Thank you all!

My granddaughter is leaving for college this Saturday. I went up for a visit to the school with her this summer and we ate in the dining hall. What a great surprise a huge salad bar, lots of veggies and lean meats, way different than when I was in college a million years ago. Sadly I do have to say they also had a huge dessert bar with amazing brownies. I know because I had 2.

I haven't tried it yet but it's basically a list of foods that you can eat that you don't have to worry about tracking. You still get some points for foods that aren't on the list but I'm not exactly sure how many. I think it may be weeklies.

The foods on the list are more filling foods. You can ask a WW Coach about it. You could take the list they suggest you make of foods that you can eat and compare to the simply filling list. It is on their website somewhere.

I haven't been on WW since they changed to this new system, so it could have changed with the new program, but the Simply Filling way of doing it was basically that you 'could eat as many of the power foods as you wanted' and then anything that wasn't a power food you would deduct from the weekly points. Frankly, I thought it was dangerous to say 'have as much of these power foods as you want (basically what they meant was don't count the points) because I can very easily eat way more pasta, whole wheat or otherwise, than would be condusive to weight loss.

What the idea was that if you eat the power foods like whole wheat pasta, fruits, veggies, etc., it would fill you up longer so you wouldn't eat as much. I didn't find that to be the case for me. :secret:

They did have a kind of meal plan that they put out where basically there were a bunch of breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack recipes and you basically could pick one from each catagory each day. They didn't include measurements of ingredients (for example it was listed as 'whole wheat pasta' rather than '2 ounces of whole wheat pasta' but they did then added that information to the receipes on their website (again, with the old system, not the new one) including the points value. I saved those recipes to a Word document and would be happy to email it to you if you'd like. Just send me a private message. Not sure if that would help, but sometimes having something mapped out for you helps.

For me just working on portion control and running/walking. I love a Coke Zero, but to lose weight I had to cut that out as well .... at least the daily doses. I will drink an occasional beer which is as bad. I cannot do a diet. When I try to cut out French fries a Coke or beer at once, it only makes me want them more. Everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you. I did WW once and did great, tried it again years later and it did not. Try to remember to cut yourself some slack and know that if you cut out everything cold turkey you will return to it with a vengeance and fall off the wagon. .....portion control and getting some exercise works best for me ....

Thanks once again for all the tips! I am doing well with WW right now, I think I just needed to regroup. Your encouragement really does mean a lot to me and it is keeping me going! I'll update my weight loss and perhaps we can all track our progress. Thanks once again

In getting fit. I personally cut down on my calories and do regular exercises. I think, that losing weight may also depend on a person's metabolism.
