It's been a while since I was here! Missed Intercot and happy to be back. We're planning a trip to WDW to help our daughter, who's a cast member, move out of her apartment into a new place in November. We want to do the cheapest accommodations while still staying on property. What are folks' thoughts about All Star Movies? The only value I've ever stayed in is Art of Animation, which seemed more like a moderate resort to me.
It looks great -- food court has lots of options and I know my Fantasia-loving DH will love the pool.
Thanks for your opinions!
We've stayed there but not in a while. The food court is bigger than the food courts at Music or Sports. If it were me, I'd probably stay at Music. Movies has always been louder and more crowded to us.

This used to be my favorite Value resort until Pop century opened.
The big pro is it is a price.
So here are the cons:
1. Buses tend to be more crowded, also depending on time of day and time of year you may be sharing a bus with Music and Sports.
2. Your room may be relatively far away from the lobby and bus stops.

Glad to see you back on INTERCOT!
If you are looking strictly for price, I think any of the All Star resorts would fit the bill. I have stayed at all three and enjoyed the theming at each one. I remember we were put in the Dalmatians building after requesting Andy's Room at ASMovies and it was very centrally located.
I would confirm that each of the All Stars have the same price before booking. As I remember it, when I looked at Movies last time it was actually a tad more expensive than All Star Music for a standard room. Whichever you choose, I am sure you will enjoy!

It looks like my DD was able to get ASMovies. So which buildings are preferred? It looks like the Fantasia buildings may be since they are close to the pool and the main building...? We've stayed at CBR many times so we're used to spread out resorts. It doesn't look like ASMovies is as spread out as CBR, although CBR had several bus stops and it looks like ASMovies just has the one in front of the main building.
This is a bit tricky. I believe Fantasia is Preferred due to its proximity to the pool, main building/food court and bus pickup, but on at least a few occasions when I have checked, the Toy Story section was also considered Preferred (I was told due to the popularity of the franchise at the time). If memory serves correct, part of Dalmatians might also be considered Preferred due to proximity to the main building and bus stop.
We have also stayed at CBR, and by comparison, ASMovies is much more compact than CBR. :mickey:

Any building that is even remotely close to the main lobby.

I've stayed at all 3 All-Stars and Movies was my favorite of the 3.
To me, not a whole lot of difference between them, but I enjoyed the theming at Movies the best.
