We were planning on going on the wedding planning trip in May. I went to compare prices of the value resorts, but it says there isn't any availability in the all stars at all and art of animation only has family suites available. What is going on in May?

Could be a bunch of different things depending on the date. Flower & Garden, Mother's Day, southern schools let out, and Memorial Day weekend.

I tested in 2018, yeap, seems booked up. Else, Disney could be holding back rooms as they seem to be reviewing rates and sales projections.

I just checked on Orbitz. The only value they have for the beginning of may is Pop and AOA. The end of May the values are available. I'd call Disney and ask.
This happened this year too ... there are cheerleading competitions that book up the values in early May.
If they don't fill all of the rooms, they go on sale close to the date, once the numbers are confirmed, but there is no guarantee that any will be released.

My daughter has been coming to Disney for the cheer competitions (they are called The Summit for her level, and they've won twice!!!) for about 5 years now and, yes, we stay at the All Star Resorts.

rofl. It will just be the 6 of us. The two couples, myself and my roommate. I can get a timeshare for $115 for the week through my travel company. I just kind've talked myself into Art of Animation.
