What exactly is the difference between a standard room or a preferred room at Coronado? From what i read they sound the same! Thanx!

Are you referring to stuff inside the room? When Disney says "Preferred Room" for all their hotels, it means it's closer to the main building where you check in, gift shop, food court, bus stops, etc.
